The Shark Stratos Upright Vacuum is Shark’s latest flagship product and is therefore the most powerful vacuum they make and has all the bells and whistles you could hope for! Shark’s “Duo-Clean” two-brush roll system really does a remarkable job of cleaning up dirt, debris, and hair on bare floors or deep in carpets. The brush rolls are also self-cleaning, which means you should rarely ever have to clean any hair wrapped around them!

The Stratos really impresses with its flexibility! Like Shark’s LiftAway upright, the Stratos has a detachable pod that converts it into a canister vacuum to get to stairs, furniture, and other hard to reach areas. With the pod removed, the Stratos also works as a stick vacuum for yet another convenient option! The vacuum itself is also surprisingly maneuverable given its somewhat bulky design.

A lot of thought has gone into this vacuum to eliminate dust, allergens, and odors. It has a HEPA filter – meaning that you are purifying the air as you clean. This model also includes a new Odor Neutralizing feature to trap odors from escaping the vacuum.

With high-end vacuums in the $600-$800 range anymore, this is a great value at around $400. The Shark Stratos is comparable to the Dyson Ball in many ways (including the price tag), but its flexibility and power really give it the edge in this contest!

The Bissell CleanView is Amazon’s BEST SELLING VACUUM, and the reason is obvious – it delivers exceptional suction power at an affordable price. The vacuum features a high-performance multi-cyclonic motor along with a Triple Action Brush Roll to lift, loosen, and finally remove fur and other dirt. The design also avoids debris being pushed around by the rollers using Scatter-Free Technology. It also has five height options ranging from bare floors to high-pile carpets, but you can’t turn off the brush roll, which may be a concern on some hardwood floors. The brush roll is also difficult to access and clean, which may become an issue if you have a long-haired and shedding pet.

The Bissell CleanView is relatively lightweight and features “Swivel Steering” with a rotating head – which makes it easy to get around household furniture. The bulky dirt container can get in the way of pushing the vacuum under the bed and other furniture, but the detachable hose is a convenient way of getting those hard-to-reach areas.

Canister vacuums are lightweight, flexible, highly maneuverable, and easy to store. The German company Miele is the top of the line when it comes to canister vacuums, and the Miele Complete C3 is their flagship model, so you know you’re getting top performance, lots of great features, and durability that will last you decades.

We can’t say enough about its cleaning performance. This is a high-end vacuum with a powerful 1200-watt Vortex Motor. While canister vacuums aren’t generally recommended for carpets, the Complete C3 performs amazingly well on all floor types. It comes with both an Electrobrush floorhead for deep cleaning carpets as well as a Parquet Floor Twister for bare floors and hardwood.

It’s HEPA Lifetime Filter means that you’re capturing fine dust and allergens and purifying the air as you vacuum! The Complete C3 is also a bagged filter, which means that all dust is trapped and sealed. It also means that you only have to empty the bag every month or so instead of after every use like a bagless. The bags do need to be replaced on a regular basis however, which means a recurring cost (4-pack for $20 on Amazon).

This would probably have been our top pick for this list, if it weren’t for the price tag. It is very expensive – but an excellent investment that we believe is well worth it! The Miele Complete C3 has incredible performance and exceptional build quality that will outlive any of the other vacuums on this list by several years.

A good stick vacuum offers amazing convenience and versatility when it comes to cleaning your space. No lugging around larger heavier vacuums, you can just take them out and get right to cleaning. While stick vacuums were once meant for just small debris and messes around the house without much power or battery life, stick vacuums have become increasingly powerful and are starting to even replace the larger upright and canister vacuums!

The Dyson V15 Detect offers exceptional suction power and cleaning performance on all floor types with a ton of innovative features. It comes with two cleaner heads, Dyson’s “Fluffy” roller for hard floors and a Motorbar for carpets with de-tangling features so you’re not constantly unwinding hair from a brush roll. The standout feature is the laser beam that reveals hidden dust particles on hard floors. We honestly thought this was a bit of a gimmick at first, but we found it a very cool feature that actually works to see dirt and dust that you probably would have missed! We expect this to become a regular feature on vacuums over the next few years.

The Dyson V15 Detect has a bunch of other innovative features that recognize the type of floor (carpet vs hard) and the amount of debris to automatically control the suction power and roller speed. This helps protect floors and significantly increases the battery life to up to an hour or run time (vs ~10 mins of other models). It also has a cool LCD screen that shows how much and the type dirt you’ve sucked up! It can feel like you’re playing a little video game while you cleaning! It also displays how much time you have left on the battery.

As with most cordless stick vacuums, the Dyson V15 Detect quickly converts to a lightweight handheld vacuum that you can use on stairs, furniture, or – our favorite use – the car. This vacuum comes with plenty of attachments and tools for getting in all of those hard to reach spaces.

The Dyson V15 Detect is an expensive machine, but it’s super convenient, wonderfully powerful, and packed with innovative cleaning features that you’ll love. We definitely believe it’s a worthwhile investment!

I think its fair to say that everyone wants a vacuum that will just do the job for us. Robot vacuums have been around for several years now and have come a long way from the days of just randomly rolling around and bouncing off the walls! These things are getting smarter, more efficient, and more powerful, and the iRobot Roomba s9+ is the best of the best.

The Roomba s9+ has the best vacuum mapping and navigation system on the market today. Like many other robot vacuums, it will accurately build a map of your home during its first few cleaning runs and use the map to maximize cleaning efficiency. You can also use iRobot’s easy-to-use app to mark boundaries and “keep out zones” to avoid any problem areas. The Roomba s9+ uses a unique system known as vSLAM that uses its sensors to know where it is at all times. This means you can move the vacuum in the middle of cleaning and it will know right where it is to resume cleaning. This is proving superior to some other systems used by Wyze and Eufy that get “lost” when you pick them up and move them.

The cleaning performance of the Roomba s9+ is top notch. It has incredibly powerful suction for such a small machine and will pick up any dirt and debris in its path. It even has Dirt Detector sensors and will turn around to finish the job if it missed anything. It has 2 rubber brush rolls that loosen and pick up debris, but avoid hair getting tangled and wrapped around the roller. All of this cleaning power is LOUD though – especially when emptying into the base, so you’ll probably want to schedule cleaning cycles while you’re away from the house.

This is a pretty expensive vacuum (although the price has come WAY down for 2024), but it’s loaded with power and convenience features and we believe it’s a worthwhile investment!

A lightweight handheld vacuum in the house that you can quickly grab for small messes is a must! These small vacuums can go anywhere and get into spaces that even the big guys can’t get to – and are especially handy when cleaning the car!

The Black+Decker AdvancedClean+ Pet is super compact and portable at under 3 lbs and is a powerful little dustbuster designed with pet owners in mind. It easily handles dirt and debris on hard floors, picking up small dust or larger items like dog kibble. The included TurboBrush does an outstanding job of cleaning up pet hair off of upholstered furniture. It has a self-cleaning rubber brush so you won’t have to worry about cleaning out hair wrapped around the roller. It’s not going to replace your larger upright or canister vacuum, but it actually does an impressive job on high-pile carpets!

The dustbin is one of the largest we’ve seen in a handheld vacuum and it’s very easy to empty. You’ll still want to empty it after every use but it shouldn’t get clogged with hair and debris while you’re cleaning.

The battery should be plenty to deal with small messes. The AdvancedClean+ will last up to 30 minutes at its regular power setting or 13 minutes on Boost Mode. It fully charges again in about 2.5 hours.
